Oh, We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!

White House Activity: Last month, we took our residents on a splendid seaside trip!

We took our residents to a classic English day by the sea in June. Our mini-seaside holiday was full of much-loved classics; a shimmering ocean view, fish and chips, and refreshing salt air.

Even though our residents love staying at the White House care home, we enjoy introducing variety to their stay with our frequent and enriching day trips.

Where did we take our residents?

Clacton-on-Sea is a true hidden gem of the beautiful British coastline. Nestled along the shores of the North Sea, this charming seaside town offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

With its sandy beaches, lively promenades, and quaint shops, Clacton was a perfect place for us to visit.

Why take our residents on day trips?

Our seaside trip allowed the residents to socialise with other people, enjoy a delicious meal of fish and chips, and refresh and reset with crisp sea air.

Extra stimulation and variety affect mental health and general well-being. It’s not just residents, our staff also benefit from engaging with our community in a different setting.

What did the trip include?

Our residents enjoyed some general sightseeing, lunch, and a fairground ride.

We sat on benches overlooking the sea, watching children build sandcastles and families flying kites. We all had a nice change of pace and appreciated the beauty of the beach.

We also took time to explore the town's charming streets lined with colourful beach huts and traditional ice cream parlours - as a sweet treat we also indulged in some homemade fudge.

At one point, we even rode on a carousel, which many residents particularly enjoyed.

How do we help less mobile residents enjoy our day trips?

Ageing can make moving around a little harder, but rest assured our residents can be included in our fun and engaging day trips. We try to ensure our trips are accessible for as many of our White House residents as possible.

At the end of our trip, we said goodbye to the sandy beaches, scintillating blue water, and sounds of seagulls and returned home to the White House.

Our day trips are an essential part of why our residents choose the White House for fun, friendly, and luxury assisted living.
