Enhancing Our Activities Programme Through Resident Feedback
This month was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, celebrate the start of 2025, and shape the months to come. We asked our residents to share their thoughts and wishes for activities they’d like to see more of this year – and they didn’t disappoint! Their fantastic suggestions are already helping us create a calendar packed with new experiences and opportunities that we can’t wait to share.
Our commitment to providing person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do. We know how important it is for residents to feel included and involved, and this session was designed to ensure every voice was heard. By listening to their ideas and wishes, we’re able to plan meaningful activities that truly reflect what they enjoy most.
One popular request was pet therapy which came from our residents’ love of animals. They shared how much joy and comfort previous animal visits had brought, sparking a fantastic new partnership with performing pets who will now visit us once a month! This exciting addition means our residents will have the chance to meet a variety of animals, from furry companions to exotic creatures. These sessions will not only offer plenty of smiles but also give residents time to reminisce about their pets and learn interesting new facts about the visiting animals.
This month, we had a visit from a variety of birds! Residents had the chance to hold them on their arms and feel their soft feathers whilst learning about their mannerisms and eating habits. We’re delighted to see the enthusiasm this has already generated.
Other wonderful suggestions included more picnic outings during the warmer months which was a favourite activity from last summer that brought so much joy. Residents also asked to keep our regular trips to local garden centres and to continue with the gardening club, which has been a fantastic way to connect with nature and enjoy the changing seasons. And, of course, they’ve asked to keep our much-loved entertainers coming into the home, filling our spaces with music, laughter, and warmth.
It’s a privilege to be able to take these ideas and bring them to life for our residents. Together at White House Care Home, we’re looking forward to 2025 being filled with new adventures, cherished moments, and plenty of joy.
